I'm planning on attending the Microchip Masters 2012 in Pheonix, AZ this coming August. I was thinking it might be fun to stay after or arrive an extra day or two so that we could have a chipKIT programming session so anyone interested could help hammer out bug in the core code.
Anyone else attending that might be interested in this?
If it was during the pre-session Microchip might be able to swing us a room if we talked sweet to them. Wink wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean know what I mean.

Good idea, but travelling from Paris, France makes it difficult if not impossible :(

I have put in my official request at work to be sent to MASTERs this year. We'll see if it gets accepted. If I do get to go, I'd love to hang out with other chipKIT guys. Maybe we can do meals together or something. :-) I likely won't be able to come a day early though.

You know, if there were enough people coming that could bring chipKIT based projects, maybe we could set up a booth like the vendors have to showcase chipKIT projects. I'd be happy to bring a 70 RC servo demo or stepper motor demo.

I would be happy to bring my ArduPilot like UAV control board based on chipKIT:

and my chipKIT based PLC replacement:

So just how portable is the ArduPilot code?
I bought a 9DOF Razor IMU, and I'd like to port ArduPilot or similar code for it (either Arduino mega or ChipKIT Mega32)? there is code for the Razor, but I don't know if you can fly a plane with it!
I'm going to keep on the ground for a while, probably RoboMagellan.

I actually have no idea. We built the UAV100 as a replacement to an older product that we make (made) called the HBC101. We decided to add some additional bells and whistles and after the fact found out that we had pretty much recreated the ArduPilot Mega 2 that is not yet shipping. Since we are using chipKIT and the chips we are using are identical except for processor and GPS we are hoping to fork or contribute back to the ArduPilot project so that we are compatible. We are planning on opening the code that we do have running the board and posting to github before the boards are shipping so that one can start modding right away. Once we get there we will start trying to make the ArduPilot code work on chipKIT.

Good plan. I'm still at a point (waypoint!) before knowing the internals of an autopilot program. I look forward to studying your code!
