Budget O-Scopes

Anyone have any experience with any of the Budget O-Scopes that are on the market?

I see a 50MHz Rigol for $329USD and a 30MHz Owon for $289USD.

I'm ready to add a scope, but don't want to break the bank and at the same time don't want to miss a feature that I might need.

I have a "Feedback OS-9020A" - a re-badged Goldstar OS-9020A. It's about 30 years old.

It didn't cost me anything at all - you can't get more "budget" than that. It's an old-fashioned analog one, and I sometimes do wish I had something more modern - a DSO would really be nice, but I get by with what I have...

I find most of the signals I look at are digital, not analog, and a semi-decent logic analyzer would probably be of more use for what I do than an oscilloscope.

I would recommend taking a look at the Analog Discovery, if you are a student/academic (major discount available).

This is what I have used over the last couple of months and it seems to have a decent variety of features. Software could be better, but still very nice.

2 channel oscilloscope (100 MSPS real-time sample rate) and 16 channel logic analyzer. +/- 20 volts range on the box (pdf below says 25 volts).

Seems either budget O-Scope would work. Much better than the nothing I currently have! :D

I like the concept of the Analog Discovery system($279 USD). But, I'm not a student(retired geezer) and I'm an Ubuntu user(with no desire to use Windows). I've downloaded the SDK manual and will take a look and see if that's something that I want to tackle with a Perl/wxPerl wrapper.

I've done some research/prototyping on a Perl/wxPerl wrapper. It looks doable. Still not sure if I want to spend the money for a device that wouldn't work for me right out of the box. Possibly if I could get the student rate it would be worth a try.

Edit: Seems there is a Beta version under development for Linux/OSX. Have to take a closer look now.
