WiFi Shield and uC32

Hello,

I want to do a project were I can send commands to the wifi shield over the internet. The WiFi shield will basically be connected on a separate network so that it can be controlled remotely. For example the shield can be in another state or country, but as long as it can connect to the internet and have power I can send commands to it. Can someone point me in the right direction for a sample project like this?
