MLX90614 IR sensor and i2cmaster library

Has anyone had any luck communicating with the MLX90614 IR sensor using MPIDE and a chipkit board? There is a good example of this using an Arduino and a library called i2cmaster (http://bildr.org/2011/02/mlx90614-arduino/).

Has anyone ported the i2cmaster library over to the pic32 side?
