A Rotary Encoder integrated with a multi-line LCD display can provide a method of data entry for your application. The example referenced below uses a Sparkfun rotary encoder and a Sparkfun 2-line x 16 character serial LCD, along with a state machine, to input multiple data values into an example sketch.
