how do you choose library location for mpide?

i have several arduino instillations for use with original arduinos, teensy and chipkit. since i installed the ide for the teensy i seem to have screwed up library access for the MPIDE. my guess is that the preferences file was edited by the new IDE.

how can i make sure that my libraries work when using MPIDE? is there some search order for libraries or is it only based on a preferences file entry? it would be nice if you could put libraries in the relevant sketch folder and have the IDE look there first. is this the case or is there some other way that the IDE looks for libraries?

i have tried everything i can think of and just can not figure this out.

never mind, i was just confused by the many different (5) IDEs i have for different controllers. i was using the wrong one which is why i could not get libraries to work correctly.
