I can not run a micro SD card SDHC 4 Gb sandDisk. I use pins 8 cs, 10-13 but the card is not recognized with cardinfo. Is that this card is recognized in the library SD? Is read/write mode 4 bits it is planned in a future extension library ?

Do you mean an SDIO interface? Pic32 chips do not support that currently..

Does Arduino? I don't know of any lower cost micros that do support that interface (in hardware anyway).

stm32f407 does for example.. not sure it is a low cost micro, though :)

Yeah, 168Mhz, $10 (cheapest single qty price), it's not quite an AVR, and it's a step up from a PIC32 as well. But maybe the next family of PIC32s will have a nice 4-bit SD port - that would be cool.

I think using that 4-bit port on an sd card requires paying royalties to Microsoft, but if it was added to a processor Microchip could pay and pass cost on to users like they do with there haptic feedback parts.
That would be cool. Being able to use 4bit interface as a little guy and not having to worry about M$ because M€ paid the bill.
